Apple has previewed the latest version of its mobile operating system, iOS 17, which is set to be released in September alongside the new iPhone 14 lineup. The update brings a number of new features and improvements, including:
- New Messages features: iOS 17 includes a number of new features for Messages, including the ability to create animated stickers from Live Photos, improved autocorrect, and the ability to send text effects like balloons and confetti.
- FaceTime improvements: FaceTime is also getting a number of improvements in iOS 17, including the ability to use it on Apple TV with Continuity Camera, and the ability to create SharePlay sessions with just a tap.
- StandBy mode: StandBy is a new mode that helps to extend battery life by reducing the amount of power that your iPhone uses when it’s asleep.
- Interactive widgets: Widgets in iOS 17 are now interactive, which means you can interact with them without having to open the app they’re from.
- Mood tracking and journaling: iOS 17 also includes a new app for tracking your mood and journaling.
In addition to these new features, iOS 17 also includes a number of bug fixes and performance improvements.
If you’re interested in trying out iOS 17, you can sign up for the public beta program. The public beta is available for all eligible devices, and it’s a great way to get a sneak peek at the new features and improvements before they’re released to the general public.
To install the public beta, go to Settings > General > Software Update and tap “Download and Install.” You’ll need to have an Apple ID and be enrolled in the Apple Beta Software Program.
Once you’ve installed the public beta, you can start exploring the new features and improvements. Be sure to report any bugs or problems you encounter to Apple so that they can be fixed before the final release of iOS 17.
The final public version of iOS 17 is expected to be released in mid-September.
